Bob helped invent the ASCII coding system and contributed the escape key and the backslash to the computer language. He first published warnings of the Y2K computer problem in the 1970s. I found his web site http://www.bobbemer.com/with articles, and awards he received very interesting. (His page can also be linked from within this referenced article). Even included there is a picture of his Texas license plate which was appropriately ASCII.
